About

Why I became a Book Coach

After graduating from college with a degree in creative writing, I sought out writing my own novel and submitting it to the publishing industry. I was disillusioned with the process of publishing, thinking that it was a short series of steps that did not require a ton of research and once I was published, that getting my novel out there would be effortless.

But I ended up being disappointed. It wasn’t that my novel was bad, but it didn’t meet market standards when I started pitching it. After getting rejected multiple times, I started to ask myself how I could get help to make it the best it could be. After a lot of trial and error, I sought out Book Coaching to help.

But as I researched more in depth what Book Coaching was, I realized that I loved the prospect of being able to help others write holistically and effectively with their own books, and save them from the torment of what I went through when I was misguided in trying to get my book out there. With the help of Author Accelerator, I was able to hone skills that I never learned during my degree, and understand writing and publishing on a scale I never had access to before.

Once I earned my certification, I created Amplify Book Coaching because I believe in amplifying writing skills, in the ability to be published, and the voices of writers out there who have always felt compelled to tell a story. Let’s find a way forward together!

My Writing

I have been writing books since 7th grade, where I filled the whole of a small notebook with a complicated plot that engaged teachers and classmates alike. I loved creating something so important to me, and bringing others into the same world by sharing it.

Since my first note-“book”, I have gone on to get a BA from SUNY Purchase in Creative Writing, along with Classical Fencing, History, and Literature. Becoming a Book Coach has made me approach my own writing process in a completely different way, one that has revolutionized my time and energy towards writing.

Art & Comics

Before I wrote I drew, and if there was anything possibly more exciting than writing a story, it was seeing it come to life on a page. In my junior year of high school I was accepted into a pre-college cartooning program at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, and spent 3 weeks in sleepless bliss working hard on a 10 page comic I loved. Eventually, I figured out that SVA, although amazing, wasn’t for me in the long run. However, I still continue on my journey with comics and comic book development, and have worked extensively to hone my skills in both. I also paint, make prints, and do digital illustration as well.

Classical Fencing

I started my journey with the martial art of fencing in the fall of 2014 at SUNY Purchase where I met my teacher Jared Kirby. While in college I created my own major in Classical Fencing, and have continued my studies with Maestro Kirby and the Martinez Academy of Arms.
